ABOUT
Lakeside cedar-forest trail at Tugman State Park, 8 miles south.
Located at William M. Tugman State Park, this trail hugs the edge of Eel Lake through groves of centuries-old cedar, quickly rewarding hikers with spectacular water views and showcasing the diversity of a mature coastal forest. Cougar and other seldom-seen wildlife frequent the area. The trail does not fully circle the lake, ending near its marshy inlet on the far side, and it is also open to bicycles. Located 8 miles south of Reedsport on US 101; turn east at Tugman State Park (past milepost 220) and follow signs to the day-use area, where the trail starts at the bridge right of the restrooms. Distance: 3 miles one way. Difficulty: Easy to Moderate. Facilities at the park's free day-use area.
